This is a newly composed carol using an old text by James Ryman. This carol is rhythmically vibrant and irregular in metre, following the natural accents of the chant-style melody. Composed for SATB choir (also available in SSA) with organ (or piano) accompaniment it features a modal chant style melody sung in unison that recurs throughout. Fast paced with frequently changing time signatures, this is a frolicking carol with lush harmonies, canonic sections and dissonance. Described as showing elements of Mathias.
