'Locus Iste' was composed in response to Anton Bruckner's famous setting of this text. Like Bruckner’s motet, ‘Locus Iste’ begins in C, but with the melody and harmony reimagined. Those familiar with the Bruckner motet will recognise the musical cameos imbedded in this work, which clearly pays homage to Bruckner's mastery. Mostly SATB with some small passages of divisi, this a capella motet is suitable for an advanced choir.
